A training aircraft of the Sri Lanka Air Force crashed.

  A PT-6 trainer aircraft belonging to the No. 1 Flying Training Wing at SLAF Academy China Bay crashed this morning (07 August 2023) within the Academy premises. The incident occurred at approximately 1127 hrs, shortly after the aircraft had taken off from China Bay airfield at around 1125 hrs. Tragically, the air accident resulted in the loss of the lives of two officers, the Pilot, Wing Commander Tharindu Herath and the Engineering officer, Flying Officer Peshan Warnasooriya. Following the incident, on the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, a Board of Investigation has been appointed to carry out an investigation into the incident. ⚡️Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation (2 August 2023)

(2 August 2023) Last night the Kiev regime made another attempt to attack a Russian Navy ship escorting civilian maritime transport with an unmanned boat in the south-western part of the Black Sea. As a result of professional actions of the Russian ship's crew, the Ukrainian boat was promptly detected and destroyed.  The AFU continued unsuccessful attempts at offensive actions in South Donetsk, Krasny Liman, Zaporozhye, Kupyansk and Donetsk directions. In Donetsk direction, as a result of well-coordinated actions of the defending units of the Yug Group of Forces in close co-operation with aviation and artillery, 12 enemy attacks have been successfully repelled close to Berestovoye, Spornoye, Severnoye, Staromikhailovka, Maryinka and Krasnogorovka (Donetsk People's Republic).  In South Donetsk direction, the Vostok Group's forward units, supported by artillery, repelled attempts of one assault and one reconnaissance groups moving near Urozhaynoye. The Ukrainian servicemen suffered losses and retreated. Artillery launched attacks at one nationalists' stronghold west of Novodonetskoye and at one mortar crew close to Velikaya Novosyolka.  Howitzer artillery destroyed one M-777 towed howitzer north-eastern of Antonovka. Attack UAVs eliminated one pickup with nationalists north of Novomayorskoye, two tanks near Staromayorskoye and one armoured fighting vehicle north of Urozhaynoye.  In Zaporozhye direction, the Group's infantry units suppressed the enemy reconnaissance group's activities near Marfopol and Charivnoye. Artillery launched attacks at one Msta-B towed howitzer near Vesyoloye, one M-777 howitzer near Pavlovka (Zaporozhye Region) and an ammunition depot close to Novoandreevka.  Attack UAVs destroyed one FH-70 towed howitzer near Olgovsk

 In the course of active defence activities in Svatovo and Krasny Liman directions' occupied positions, the Forces' units, supported by artillery and aviation, repelled and foiled eight attempts of AFU mechanised brigades assault groups and the 25th Airborne Brigade. The enemy losses were more than a hundred militants, two pickup trucks and two mortars were eliminated.  Tor-M1 self-propelled air defence system crews destroyed one AFU unmanned aerial vehicle.  In the course of combat operations in Kupyansk direction, a crew of the Su-34 fighter-bomber of the Zapad Group of Forces carried out two air strikes on two objects against the temporary deployment point of units of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade close to Peschanoye, and against a command post, a manpower and firepower concentration area of units of the 68th Separate Ranger Brigade close to Stelmakhovka. In total, the enemy losses were up to two platoons of manpower. In addition, in the defence line of the motorised rifle brigade of the 1st Tank Army, the Group's artillery launched an attack on units of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade near Berestovoye during an attempt to redeploy reserves to forward positions. The enemy losses were up to a squad of troops and a pickup truck. (1 August 2023) Last night the Kiev regime attempted to carry out terrorist attack using three semi-submersible unmanned boats on Russian civilian transport vessels heading to the Bosporus Strait in the south-western part of the Black Sea. The Russian Navy ships escorting the sea transport detected and promptly destroyed all the boats. The AFU continued unsuccessful attempts at offensive actions in South Donetsk, Krasny Liman, Zaporozhye, Kupyansk and Donetsk directions. In Donetsk direction, as a result of coordinated actions of the defending units in close cooperation with aviation and artillery of the Yug Group of Forces, 8 enemy attacks have been successfully repelled close to Belogorovka, Berestovoye, Severnoye, Maryinka and Zaitsevo (Donetsk People's Republic). In addition, AFU units have been hit close to Seversk, Predtechino, Sukhaya Balka, Lastochkino and Georgievka (Donetsk People's Republic). Elimination of enemy stronghold
